Copper brown, small expresso head. Good caramelly, roasted nose - very typical German dobbelbock aroma. Roasted, licorice, cold coffee and burned caramel. Touch of alcohol in the aftertaste. Just quite thin palate otherwise one of the best (or the best) Italian sampled so far. Sten (289), Westerlo, Belgium

| 4.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Jan 25, 2006 This beer is labeled doppio malto and is
a bock bier by style, coming in at a gravity of 16.8
degrees Plato, and 6.5% abv. This beer is a rich,
delicious, sweet malty dark lager, brewed almost
entirely with Munich malt, and has lots of flavor and
character.
Forst Sixtus pours to a beautiful, bright, deep
chestnut brown color with a dense and creamy tan head,
and a soft to moderate amount of carbonation. The nose
on this beer is very rich and aromatic, with lots of
big sweet malty, toasty, nutty, and chocolatey malt
aromas. The palate is rich and creamy on the tongue
with more big malt character. Flavors of sweet malt,
nuts, light toast, caramel, and undertones of milk
chocolate glide over the tongue. Forst Sixtus finishes
with more delicious creamy and malty flavors up front,
then ends with a slightly cloying, slightly warming,
soothing burn.
This is an outstanding Italian version of bock bier in
my opinion. OKBeer (1159), Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada

Nutty, lightly roasty, caramel, and lightly fruity flavours. Light to medium bodied, perhaps a touch thin. Lightish but drinkable doppelbock. Ungstrup (15275), Frederiksberg, Denmark
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Oct 18, 2005 A brown beer with a thin light brown head. The aroma is sweet with a distinct nutty character. While the flavor is malty with a roasted character blended with notes of nuts, but I find the body thin inspite of the 6.5% ABV. Thanks Alex (fiulijn) for bringing this to Denmark. Jeppe (2638), Ølbutikken, Denmark
