This beer pours a maroon to magenta color with virtually no head and very little lacing. The aroma is smokey, with a heavy winish cask oakyness to it. Grapes, peanuts, malt and dark fruits in the aroma as well. The flavor is heavy roasted barley, caramel, fig, cherries, cask oak, and peanut with a dry grassy but cardboardy finish. Tongue coating and full bodied. Hints of coffee and chocolate in the finish, like pure espresso. Mild carbonation. I was honestly terrified when I picked this beer up, but damn what a nice find. Im not the largest doppelbock fan due to the astringent aftertastes left by the roasted barley, but this beer balances everything nicely.

Bottle@Dolomites, Italy. Dark brown beer with a strong head. The aroma is coffee, sweet and quite strong, and the flavour is strong, caramel, sweet, black coffee with a dry finish. Overall a complex and reasonable Italian beer but the flavours are probably too pronounced.

Mahoganey colour with minimal head. Aroma of molasses, toast and brown sugar. Fairly full body with long, toffeeish malt notes and a hint of earthiness imparted by the dark malts. Simple but effective structure, with enough richness to keep me interested.

Deep mahogany color with a moderate tan head that settles to a small lid. Sweet brown sugar aroma with a hint of smoke. Sweet earthy caramel flavors. Thick and coating feel.

Hmm, I'm rather torn on this one. I can't decide whether I like it a lot or don't care for it. Not much head but nice lacing on this dark brown beer. It's very fruity; prunes are present for sure. It's growing on me and becoming more complex as it warms. The palate is borderline metalic. I like a nice mineral feel, but this goes too far. Overall it's pretty good. It's better than most of the domestic ones but pales to Celebrator or Salvator.

Very good Dobbelbock. Dark brown with rich brown head. Aroma is very sweet, carmel and fruit like dates or prunes. Flavor is very sweet with some noble hops coming through. Wet,sweet finish.
