Nose of toasted malts, nuts and earth. Flavor is similar, but not as complex, which a bit disappointing. Decent palate, but not creamy or smooth at all. Not bad. OSLO (829), Minnesota, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 12, 2009 [Bottle, thanks argo0!] Pours dark amber with a small beige head. Aroma is really spicey with a decent malt backbone to accompany it. Taste is sweet initially, then some caramel, spices of course, and a little nuttiness. Thin, super spice filled finish. Really thought the spices were terribly overdone in this beer. Not a drain pour, but I would have a hard time drinking much of it. watson1977 (279), , Pennsylvania, USA

Aroma is big scotchy malt, nuts, brown sugar, earthy peaty notes, and some X-mas spices. Tastes walnutty, with heavily earthy caramel malt, some nutmeg, piney hops, brown sugar, and molasses hints. Fairly dense palate.

(Rating #2191) Glouglouburp (2877), Montreal, Quebec, Canada
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Feb 1, 2009 In short: A powdery brown ale with a milk chocolate character. Amateurish.
How: Bottle, tasting session with Montreal crew
The look: Almost clear amber body topped by a small beige head
In long: Nose of milk chocolate and caramel. Taste of milk chocolate, nuts and caramel. Somewhat floury/powdery with cacao notes. Rather sweet. Subtle (to say the least) hops presence. Not very tasty and what it tastes feels “off” or very boring. I once met a Big Shot that was as successful as this beer, the dude ran his own toaster repair shop and had a real Timex on his wrist.
