Commercial Description:
A big Hazelnut Brown Ale with a warm, nutty, toffee-like flavor. A wonderful winter warmer to enjoy with friends during the holiday seasons. A wildly big strong ale we call the Big Shot.

Pours a hazy dark amber, with a sticky, thick lace - a lot of hazelnut in the aroma, along with vanilla, hints of wood, and even a little bit of spiced rum character - fairly sweet, but tempered but moderate hop bitterness - a lot of nutty character, hints of chocolate, coffee, toffee, toasted grains - lightly bitter and spicy in the finish - this is pretty good - a somewhat underrated brew, in a severely underrated style.

A deep dark reddish brown ale with a thick receding light moka head. A sweet nutty aroma with vanilla, vinous notes, a bit of mashed peas. In mouth, a good nutty malt, with wooded notes, molasses, and some lactic notes. Rich, earthy and warming. Bought at Half-Time, Summer 2008, tasted Sept. 2008.

22 oz. bottle. Pours a mostly clear reddish amber with a moderate tan head that lasted through mid-glass and left partial lace. Very pleasant aroma of chocolate, hazelnuts, malt and just a bit of coffee. The flavor steps back in intensity just a bit from the aroma with the same attributes. Lightly bitter and drier at the finish. Tasty and enjoyable.

Pours a dark partially cloudy reddish brown colour. Head is full and frothy, tan. Aroma is very pleasent, nutty, and maple syrup. Taste is interesting, plenty of sweet nuttiness, but i also taste some green beans, maybe a little toffee or almond also. Either way an incredibly filling brew.

12/12/2007: Fort Collins Big Shot Seasonal Ale is golden amber and clear with ruby tones. It also has a frothy off-white head. Hazelnuts with some toasted malt behind it can be found in the aroma. The flavor has toasted malt and hazelnut. It is kind of rich, but one dimensional with a dry texture. Other flavors to note include hazelnut shells and an earthy bitterness. It has a medium body and isn’t quite smooth, but still decent on the palate. It is different and does not come across as artificial. Overall this is a pretty good Nut Brown Ale.

Bomber. Pours a clear dark orange amber with fair light tan head. Sweet malty aroma with a hint of toffee, but not overly impressive. Flavor is toasted malt with some nuttiness but not vegetal. Smooth medium body with medium low carbonation. Rather enjoyable nut brown.

Bottle nice art work. Pours a mahogany amber brown body with off white head. Caramel, nutty, tastes a lot like lager, minor hop notes, with light etoh. eh.

Bottle back from nashville from about a month ago. Decent sweet malty flavor. Nutty and toffee character as well. Pours a syrupy, murky looking brown color. Caramel and toffee aroma. Decent drink. Possibly getting this one a little late in the game here though.
