| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 28, 2008 22oz bomber(courtesy of RSRIZZO)-A medium to dark amber body with a huge off white/tan head and an aroma of hazelnut, roasted malt, toffee, and a little coffee. Taste of hazelnut and more hazelnut with some malt mixed in. I think a nice tasting brew. If you don’t like hazelnut you probably will not care for this. Good brew. valpoaj (363), Valparaiso, Indiana, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 24, 2008 Delayed entry from Tasting at Holiday Beerfest in Omaha: Mahogany pour, not much head, but that might have been due to the pour. Aroma is a combination of sweet and roasted malts and toasted nuts. Flavor is sweet up front, then turns bitter, and this bitterness holds in the aftertaste. Very nutty with some bread/yeast accents. Not bad, but not great! Gregis (1135), Shawnee, Kansas, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 15, 2008 Pours a clear, reddish brown with a lot of small rising bubbles and a three finger, creamy, beige head that gradually diminishes, leaving behind patchy lace. The nose is of nutty, toasted malt and faint earthy hops. Light to medium-bodied and creamy with a toasty, dry finish. The flavor is a nutty malted front with a mild, spicy/earthy hopped finish. This is a decent brown, but it’s not anything I’m likely to buy again. BeerBelcher (945), Columbus, Ohio, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jan 11, 2008 I thought this brown ale was pretty good. It had a caramel maltiness to it that was slightly sweet but not overly (or sourly or malted milk-ball like) sweet. I thought it to be pretty good.
This beer pours a hazy red with medium head which quickly fades. Aroma is a lot of slightly sweet caramel maltiness and some nutmeg spiciness and coffee notes. Flavor is more roasty than I would’ve expected...like coffee with some caramel syrup. Pretty good. Definitely not boring like many brown ales I’ve had. Mouthfeel is a bit sticky and pleasant, but unremarkable.
I’d recommend this beer. I bought this bottle at Brew & Brew in North Ridgeville, OH. hopdog (5617), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA

Aromas of toasted malts, caramel, nutty, and some graininess. Tastes of caramel, toasted malts, and nutty. KieferUGA (461), Atlanta, Georgia, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 5, 2008 22 oz. bottle. Muddy, ruby color. Light tan head, smallish. Aroma of roasted nuts. Beer is a little thin on the palate. Flavor was a bit plain, with hints of roasted malt. Finish is moderately bitter. I was expecting a bit more from this "big" beer. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jan 5, 2008 Aroma is a nice roasted almost nutty scent. Color is a dark amber with good carbonation and a thin tight tan head. Taste is roasted and clean. It has a medium body that goes down crisp bring on a dry nutty roasted taste then a bitterness comes up and ends with a smooth feel. In the after taste the bitterness builds a bit before fading. Its a nice and very drinkable Brown although I was expecting it to be a bigger bolder brew being a Winter and they say it has a toffee-like flavor and I don’t find it here.
