Decent enough flavors of chocolate malts with roasted nuts, is lightly sweet. Mildly bitter finish. KimJohansen (7143), Copenhagen V, Denmark
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 22, 2008 Dark brown with beige head. Sweet aroma with roasted malt, coffee and chocolate notes. Plenty of chocolate in the flavour and to follow it up comes roasted malt and delicious coffee notes. Delicious! Ron (1038), Rochester, New York, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Dec 21, 2008 Bottle. Pours black with a small light head. Aroma of roast, coffee, dark bitter chocolate. Flavor of sweet sugar, roast, bitter hops with a bitter finish. Could use more chocolate and less hops for my taste. Fin (3473), Merton, Oxfordshire, England
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Dec 12, 2008 On tap at David Copperfield Pub New York 20-11-08. Pours dark brown with an off white head. Some light cocoa dusting on nose with a bit of roastyness going on also. The taste is not a million miles from Youngs Chocolate Stout but not as good, the chocolate is weaker. I’m not so impressed its thin watery yes there is coffee and chocolate but not enough to keep me interested. A5 A3 F5 P3 OV10 2.6 Dorwart (1829), Robbinsville, New Jersey, USA
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Dec 12, 2008 Minimal head which dies almost instantly. Milk chocolate and some roasted grains. Kind of a bland mish mosh of aromas. Color is a very dark brown. Lots of roasted grains in the flavor. Some carbon and coffee late swallow. Minimal chocolate in the flavor. Generic again. Finishes creamy and smooth with a bit of lingering bitterness and dark roasted coffee. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 8, 2008 Bottle. Pours a dark brown with a minimal tan head. Heavy aromas of dark chocolate and charcoal get my hopes pretty high. Flavor is really interesting. It has a great cast, in order of dominance, smokey charcoal, dark chocolate, vanilla and coffee. That said, they do not come across as particularly full. It is like they are all holding back a little or something. It is not like it is watery, just like the flavors are a little washed out. Good, and if the thinness issue was not there this would be great. Still, for a stout with a 5.3% abv, this is really good. MiP (9159), Sønderborg, Denmark
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | Dec 8, 2008 Bottle. Black colour. The flavour is sweet and nice, roasted and creamy. Hint of creamy coffee and vanilla. Not much chocolate IMO. But nice.
