Commercial Description:
Chocolate malt and roasted barley provide the dark color and fully body of chocolate stout. Toasy accents and a hoppy dryness add to this smooth brew. An old time favorite you'll remember.

Bottle bought in Evanston, Wyoming. Pours a very dark brown color with a medium brown head that goes down to almost nothing. The aroma is full of coffee, roasted malts, and some light chocolate. The flavor was mostly bitter dark chocolate and roasted coffee; some strong earthy flavors in the finish and a but of roasted malts. A easygoing and nice stout.

12 oz bottle Deep black beer with a thin tan head. Aroma is quite nice, deeply cocoaish and chocolatey with a lightly salty roasted barley component. Some very nice herbal hop aroma over the top of that as well. Flavour is softly cocoaish with a salty roastiness. Nice lingering earthy bitterness. It’s a pretty solid brew.

Pours a two-fingered brown head that sits on a black body that offers the slightest glimmer of light to peer through... intimidating as a chocolate a stout should be... bright, mellow milky lactic scents pleasantly mingle with chocolate and coffee--engaging... lively, effervescent between the teeth.. the slightest hints of hops rough up the edges of what one would expect to be a smooth drinker... lively at the throat too, with little lingering presence... chocolate, yes--and smoked accents of peat or somthing darker and sweeter through the nostrils... not as "smooth" as advertised--but still pleasant and chocolaty... completing the sampler I bought a ways back (in the spring!) I feel compelled to revisit the 12-pack at a later date--it was that enjoyable, and balanced the wheat (1) with the lagers (3) and the ales (2)...

POURS NICE AND DARK HAS A SLIGHTLY MILD, A LIITLE BIT BLAND AFTERTASTE. BUT GOES DOWN RELATIVELY SMOOTH. A SLIGHTLY AVERAGE CHOCOLATE STOUT.

(Bottle) Pours an opaque black color with only a wisp of brown head. Aroma of dark malts. Some cocoa, coffee and light toffee is there. Taste is of burnt caramel and dark chocolate malts. Not as sweet or creamy as expected. Somewhat astringent finish. Average mouthfeel and carbonation. It was pretty good.

Bottle. Pours a deep dark black with a thin tan head that falls off rather quickly. Aroma is toasty and malty. Creamy texture with very fine carbonation. Finish is lightly bitter.

Sampled at the 12th Annual Knoxville Brewer’s Jam. Black with ruby glints, thin light tan head. Dark chocolate and coffee aromas, even roasty flavors followed by hints of chocolate and a bitter finish. Re-rate: Pours a dark brown with red glints and a soft tan head. Aroma is roast and chocolate. Taste is smooth chocolate, a bit watery, roasted malt and some coffee. Original rating 7:4:7:4:16

(Bottle). Milk chocolate aroma. Near black body, light brown head. Pleasant not-too-sweet chocolate flavor, with a touch of bitterness and hops. Solid.
