| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 12, 2008 Aroma is muted, but good. Mostly of roasted malt.
Appearance is good. Dark, brown head although very minimal.
Flavor is superb. Chocolate is present on the perfect balance, not overdone as is usually the case for this style.
Palate is fine, but more like a porter than a stout.
Overall, great chocolate stout. Rciesla (3845), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA

Coffee bitterness, a bit roasty, leading to a lightly sweet chocolate flavor then back to coffee accented bitterness. CptGreencoat (69), Kettering, Ohio, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 8, 2008 Bottle in frosted English Pint glass. Pours to a dark brown with a thin, lasting tan head. I’ve got a bit of a cold so I can’t say what the scent is (I’ll rate it a 7 as that seems to be about average.) Taste is not as heavy as I would have expected for something this dark in color. Coffee and roasted malt are the most present in flavor, with light, sweet chocolate hiding in the back. As it finishes you are left with a perfect amount of bitterness, begging you to take another sip. I wasn’t expecting something this complex. A little thin on the palate, but overall I’d say this is a good (almost great) chocolate stout. jzzbassman (850), New Albany, Mississippi, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Oct 7, 2008 Bottle. Deep mahogany with a nice long lasting head. Aroma is sweet and chocolaty, but bitter and acetic on the tongue. The roasted sweetness carries through for a bit, but finishes very dry and somewhat tart. blklab2007 (981), Connecticut, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 29, 2008 bottle poured into a snifter has a brown color and minimal off white head. aroma has lightly roasted chocolate malt, coffee, sweet, and a little lactic. mouth feel is light for a stout with little carbonation. flavor has heavy chocolate malt, light roasted coffee, little bitterness, and fading sweetness. finish is somewhat dry with hop bitterness picking up. not the most hearty stout but the flavors are alright.
