Commercial Description:
Chocolate malt and roasted barley provide the dark color and fully body of chocolate stout. Toasy accents and a hoppy dryness add to this smooth brew. An old time favorite you'll remember.

Dryer than the name lets on, and more coffee-based too. If in Colorado, I pref Avery’s dry stout; if stuck in one of the western corners, this does just fine.

Pours a deep black with a small tannish head. Aroma is medium sweet with nuts toffee and bitter chocolate. The flavor is sweet throughout with just a hint of bitter at the end. Medium bodied, slick texture. Finishes medium and bitter.

Not a big fan of this Stout. Not sure if it was the Chocolate (not a big fan) or just not a good brew. Just didn’t have a good flavor that stood out for me.

Pours deep brown into a shaker. Mocha head with good retention leaves no lacing as it recedes. Chocolate and roasted coffee aromas. Thin and chocolaty with a lasting, smoky, slightly metallic hop finish.

Pours black but not a thick black - light can penetrate through it if held up. Virtuallly no head and I could tell immediately that this was a thin stout. I’ve had porters that are thicker than this one. Flavor is not too bad for what it is - clearly chocolate and malt but really no tones of anything else. Not a strong offering.

Has a brown black pour with a nice bubbled tan head, you could see through this around the edges, dark chocolate, milk chocolate (some milk character?), roasted malt, a faint coffee fragrance? flavor of roasted malt which is weak, touch of coffee, has a real faint dry chocolate taste, this is a weak tasting stout, mouth feel is thin, watery, disappointing, I was expecting a chocolate stout, the nose on this was pretty good but the flavor is lacking, hardly any chocolate here if any, there are stouts with more chocolate flavor and do not advertise as a chocolate stout, this is a good example of a poorly made chocolate stout!

bottle from joekinty. coffee and roastiness dominate the nose and taste. cocoa powder type of bitterness and roasty chocolate. no noticable artificial chocolate. not sweet like I would expect.
