Commercial Description:
Chocolate malt and roasted barley provide the dark color and fully body of chocolate stout. Toasy accents and a hoppy dryness add to this smooth brew. An old time favorite you'll remember.

Nice dark color with a decent head that reduces to a thin lace rather quickly. Aromas of charcoal malts. Medium nectar with good carbonation. This is a beautifully balanced stout with a moderate, snappy roast component, superb chocolate essence, and a perfectly bittered finish that has a nice aspirin burn on the palate. Highly recommended.

Bottle (12oz). Nearly opaque ruby-black, huge frothy lasting tan head. Aroma - man that’s dry and bitter and funky! almost like a barnyard, herbal with bitter chocolate malt ... frankly, I’m not sure I like that. The taste has much less of the barn - just dry cocoa malt and dry herbal bitterness. Light, dry, bitter mouthfeel, a real "damn, I just ate a square of baker’s chocolate" aftertaste to it. At least it’s not syrupy ...

Poured a little thinner than I wanted. Nice and dark with a quick cascade down to a two finger, light beige head. Some lace. Slightly subdued roasty, toasty nose, chocolate and coffee. Flavor is roasty, bitter cocoa, and watery espresso. Finishes oakey and ashey, with a quick snippet of bitterness on the back of your tongue. The body is too thin. Flavor palate is too subtle, not enough bang. Easy to drink but will be hard to buy again.

Bottle. Pours a deep dark brown with a thin off white head. Aroma was light coffee and roasted malts adding to the sweetness. Nice chocolatey roasted taste that wasn’t too overpowering. Smooth light beer.

Next to no head. Appears jet black. Kind of a smoky smell but just not much there. Everything about this beer is not enough. Did I get a bad bottle?

On tap at the Flying Saucer, Nashville. Poured black with a tan head. Not much nose. Roasty flavor that never quite opened up. Chocolate notes in the finish and a soft mouthfeel. Drinkable, but not notable.

I enjoyed this one. Smells of mocha coffee. Flavor is rich with coffee and chocolate with some hop tones. Rich mouthfeel with a good finish.

BOTTLE: Dark pour with nice beige head and medium lacing. Strong smoky aroma combined with chocolate and coffee flavors. Flavor continues with the smokiness, some coffee (Kona perhaps? just kidding). Nice mouth feel but very short finish with little complexity. Eh.
