Commercial Description:
Chocolate malt and roasted barley provide the dark color and fully body of chocolate stout. Toasy accents and a hoppy dryness add to this smooth brew. An old time favorite you'll remember.

12oz bottle. Deep brown with tan medium head. Strong chocolate aroma with roasted malts & toffee. Creamy & malty leads way to a metallic bitter finish. Kind of reminds me a bit of chocolate syrup (the generic type) and there’s a little fruitiness to it as well and some astringent qualities. This thing is all over the map in terms of style but was only so-so.

Black pour, moderate sized tan head, solid lacing and retention. Roasted aroma with chocolate, caramel, coffee. Moderate hops present as well. Hops make their presence known, somewhat interesting. Doesn’t live up to the name though.

12 oz bottle shared by fordest. Some watery chocolate, with some roasted malts.

12 oz bottle thanks to suttree. Roasted aromas. Some chocolate flavors, but down a bit from the aromas. Chocolate on the finish. Burnt malt bitterness made it seem a bit porterish.

It’s no Young’s Double Chocolate. In fact in the realm of chocolate stouts, this is a ways down the list. But it’s good. It’s a little thin for a stout. While it has a nice roasted malt and chocolate flavor, there’s a bit too much licorice for me.

Bottle, pours clear blackish brown with a lacy tan head. Medium-light body, light carbonation. The chocolate is there as advertised and some roasty notes, but not much else.

Pretty solid stout. Pours black with a thin head, with thin lacing. Aroma is cocoa beans and licorice. Texture is thin, not really watery but not really bold either. Hints of roasted barley and malt in the flavor, some hint of something else...maybe bubblegum? More of a Stout than a Chocolate Stout, but still a solid brew that I enjoyed.

12-oz. Black with a thin tannish head. Huge chocolatey, roasty nose. Light, almost watery body. Roasty, chocolatey mid-palate, but...light and watery. Herbal finish. Meh.
