Commercial Description:
Chocolate malt and roasted barley provide the dark color and fully body of chocolate stout. Toasy accents and a hoppy dryness add to this smooth brew. An old time favorite you'll remember.

12 oz. Pours a deep opaque brown with a thick foamy tan head. Nose of bittersweet smoked chocolate with a little bit of brown sugar. Has a very smokey, roasted taste. Almost like baker’s chocolate because I get the cocoa flavor, but there isn’t a whole lot of sweetness. Decent body, but kind of thin compared to a lot of other chocolate stouts.

Deep dark brown coloured body ~85% opaque with a nice dense tan head. Aroma of very smoked malt, completely surprising since no one mentions it! Peat, malt, nuts and a bit of chocolate are noticeable - but more smoked essences noticeable than anything else. Medium-bodied; Lactic taste up front with some good milk coming through in the taste with a bit of pale sugars and some pleasant malt. Chocolate shows in the aftertaste with some nuts and peat also coming through - very mild though. Overall, an interesting beer - the aroma is completely smoked, but the taste is very mild and doesn’t show much at all. Overall, a decent beer - but nothing great. Not worth trying again, but perhaps if you can’t find this regularly - it’s worth a try. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Oliver’s Beverage in Albany, New York on 10-January-2008.

12oz bottle. Pours very deep brown with a tan head that fills the pint glass. Aroma is roasted malt, along with dark chocolate, cocoa powder, and mild hops. Flavor is primarily sweet malt, chocolate and hops fall into the background. Bittersweet chocolate finish.

12 ounce bottle. Pours a dark brown color with a half finger width tan head that disappears quickly. The aroma really threw me off because there was not much present. The little smell that was there was grainy with hints of chocolate and possibly berries. Taste consisted of strong roasted malts, with hints of chocolate and some bitter coffee hints coming at the end. A very light mouthfeel. I thought this beer would be a bit "heavier" but overall it was fairly tasty.

Bottle. Watery, thin, no aftertaste, slightly acidic. Won’t be buying this one again.

Draft at Betty’s in the short north of Columbus. Very rich dark color with a frothy dark tan head. This stout has a very malty sweet chocolate aroma. Some flavorful malt and chocolate as this warms with coffee coming thru at the end. This has a very nice mouthfeel. Very drinkable and I will be happy to sample this again.
