| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 15, 2007 for some reason this struck me as very smokey initially in both aroma and flavor which faded substantially with time. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 14, 2007 Bottle. Rich chocolate malt aroma. Coffee notes, bitter roasted almost burnt character. Soy sauce and carbonic tang. Dark brown-black clear with thin cocoa colored head. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Starts dry with roasted grain, bitter coffee, and carbonic gassy acidity. Mild sweetness doesn’t last long. Finish is a dry chalky bitter. MrRain (433), O’Fallon, Illinois, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 4, 2007 12oz bottle poured in a tulip. This stout has an almost licorice tone to it. There’s also a touch of sour in the nose. It pours very dark and when held up to the light you can barely see ruby coloring. The head is nearly non-existent. The body is thick and chewy. It has a nice balance of hops and is quite dry. The chocolate is barely noticeable. All in all this is a surprisingly good beer. It exceeds my expectations. If it had a bit more complexity you could jack up the alcohol and have a 4+ rating. The roastiness is this beer’s strongest point. drfabulous (1250), Columbia, Missouri, USA

I may have poured it too cold....but coming off today’s Gator victory, I was feeling good and the stout looked like a nice way to be happy. natedoggkc (164), Lenexa, Kansas, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Oct 26, 2007 Tasted 10/15/07. 12oz bottle. Pitch opaque with a brown hue. Quickly dissipating beige head. Chocolate malty nose. Medium bodied with sticky finish. Good malt note. Cocoa and chocolate with mild bitterness. Touch of a roasted coffee acidity. Slight hop finish. Solid stout. Notes of chocolate and slight nuances of dark fruit. Nice smooth sweet lingering flavor. Smoother as it warms. Cola and dried prune note. Solid flavor but just a touch thin in the body.
