Commercial Description:
Chocolate malt and roasted barley provide the dark color and fully body of chocolate stout. Toasy accents and a hoppy dryness add to this smooth brew. An old time favorite you'll remember.

A very boring and flat stout. Pour was a decent deep dark brown with a thin tan ring for a head. Aroma was almost 0. I can’t believe a stout can have this little aroma. Taste, again for this brewer, was watery and thin. This seems to be a trend. Little roasted malt. Heavy carbonation and no aftertaste. Mouth felt like a just drank a sip of water.

Tasted at Platte River Parkway Fall Festival. Good deep color, average to weak head. Aroma faint. The flavor, if reminiscent of chocolate is a dark chocolate, if anything. Finish with good hops.

Can almost be classified as a sweet or imp stout. Opaque black brown pour. Very little head. Has a girdle for a head around the inside edge of the glass. Aroma is sweet and possibly volatile. Much easier to enjoy than many so called chocolate stouts. Is not quite as intimidating as many imperial choco stouts but certainly has an almost impy stout character that cannot be ignored. Pretty good example of a dark beer except that it is quite bitter at times. Palate is thick and coating. I’m not really sure if there is any chocolate qualities in this or not. Some mild creamy carbonation that is welcome to the palate. Makes this easier to enjoy. Finish is quite bitter and can use a few manners but again although this approaches the impy stout style, it probably is much more controlled with manners.

An average stout with typical stout aroma and flavor. Unfortunately, the aroma and especially flavor were rather subdued compared to other stouts I’ve had, so I don’t see myself really seeking this out again.

Dark brown color with a dark tan head. Aroma and taste has a mixture of chocolate, malt and spice that was actually quite good. Finish was a spiced-sweet honey and cream that was smooth and long-lasting. I’m glad they didn’t overload the chocolate. I was pleasantly surprised.

On tap at the brewery. Not my favorite stout, but not bad, at least it doesn’t taste like liquid smoke like some of their other brews. Pours very dark with a brown head. A little too roasty for a chocolate stout, but a pretty good regular stout.
