Commercial Description:
Chocolate malt and roasted barley provide the dark color and fully body of chocolate stout. Toasy accents and a hoppy dryness add to this smooth brew. An old time favorite you'll remember.

On tap at the brewery. Not my favorite stout, but not bad, at least it doesn’t taste like liquid smoke like some of their other brews. Pours very dark with a brown head. A little too roasty for a chocolate stout, but a pretty good regular stout.

Pours a deep brown with a smaller bubbly tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, caramel, hints of molasses and smoke, some nuts and light coffee. Flavor was a mix of the same...a bit thin, but I also had this after an imperial stout.

Sadly lacking the lofty ABV of most stouts, this almost comes off like a brown ale, yet it still delivers the flooding dark twang associated with stouts. Not stout enough but still very pleasing, paid $1.39 for a single and might pay $7.99 for a sixer but certainly no more than that.

Color of old motor oil with an orange tint. Fleeting tan foam and sparse lacing. Enchanting nose- spicy and floral (gewurztraminer), black cherry, earthy and brett-like, vanilla, pineapple, smoke. Bittersweet roasted barley flavor. Roasted peanuts. Suggestions of honey and black pepper. Faint sulphur- is this a lager? Buttery palate and button-popping carbonation. Some chalkiness from the roasted malts. Dark chocolate, cinnamon, and peach aftertaste. I appreciate the unexpected and almost haphazard, Belgian-esque complexity.

Bottled at Oliver Twist, Stockholm. Very dark opaque brown, minimal head. Aroma of caramel and fudge with a slight metallic edge. Sweet and light bodied with notes of chocolate and tar. Some very light phenols lurk on a distance. Low bitterness.

Dark amber brown pour with an enormous tan head (word of advice; pour slowly down the side of your glass). Blankets of lacing follow as the head diminishes, looks good! Small amounts of sweet chocolate and roasted malt is present in a somewhat dull aroma, never seems to really become robust. Mouthfeel has a nice bitterness, although it’s thin for the style. Finish is clean, this is a drinkable stout. Flavor is more pronounced than the aroma. Mild chocolate, some lactic sugar and toasted malt. Decent amount of bitter hops. Overall it’s kind of a lackluster stout, not worth the price tag but drinkable.

Bottle. A mild flavored stout. Smelled like chocolate ice cream, not what I was expecting. Heavy body with a black oil look and a bittersweet chocolate taste.

pours black with a thin bubbly brown head. aroma is roasted chocolate malt with hops, orange, and bitter dark chocolate characteristics. has a medium to heavy body with ok lacing and good carbonation. flavor is the same as aroma with some coffee. flavors linger in the aftertaste a little while, a little thin in the middle but not bad. also has a somewhat dry aftertaste, but as it warms there is a little metallic flavor in the aftertaste as well. the roasted malt really comes out as it warms and makes the aroma a bit stronger, stuck between 6 and 7 on the aroma. 6.5 ha-ha!
