Apr 20, 2007 Bottle. Very dark black color. The little head that it has being light tan.
Toasty chocolate aroma is pleasant. Taste begins with some very brief sweetness followed by the malt chocolate flavor that it promises. The finish tastes of coffee and lasts for quite a while on the back of the tongue. Not too shabby.

Apr 13, 2007 Pours a very dark blak with a medium/thin head. The aroma has choclate and a litlle fruityness. very malty and roasted that disgues most any other flaver.

Apr 13, 2007 Pitch black pour, with a very thin khaki head. Chocolate, smoke, and some faint cherry aromas. Flavor is strong on the roasty malts. Chocolate is harder to detect in the flavor profile. A bit one dimensional. An average stout, but certainly nothing to write home about.

Apr 13, 2007 Poured dark brown, near opaque, with a medium sized, tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, light smoke, and pine. Taste of roasted malts, strong chocolate, with caramel, and a hoppy finish.

Apr 10, 2007 Dark brown with a thin tan head. Roasty and chocolate aroma. More of the same in the taste, but there is a nice smokeyness and some coffee. Both add to a nice, bitter finish. Slightly watery. Pretty good.

Apr 7, 2007 Pours dark brown with a small head. Aroma of deep roasted malts (chocolate and coffee). Taste introduces some bitterness and smoke. Medium to heavy body. Not exactly complex, but really good taste.

Apr 5, 2007 Picked up a bottle from Coffee Ground in Eau Claire, WI. Pours a very dark, opaque dark brown, with a tan frothy foam head. Aroma of lodge wood smoke, chocolate barley malt with some caramel. Taste of coffee, dark chocolate, some herbs and even smoky peat. Moderate bitter finish but pleasant. The smoky fire wood aftertaste is very memorable. Nice!

Apr 4, 2007 Bottle. Pours ruby black with beige head, and a few beads of liquid stayed atop the foam. The aroma is roasted malt, some astringency, hints of baker’s chocolate. The flavor is baking cocoa and weak coffee, with some faint burned-biscuit notes. Planty hoppiness dreis out the finish and lingers into the aftertaste. Mouthfeel leaves something to be desired.
