| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Mar 19, 2009 Pours very dark, almost a black colour. The head is small and forms an espresso like foam on the top of the beer. The beer is nicely aromatic with a good mocha character with a great chocolate on coffee balance. This certinally smells better than it tastes, not that it tastes bad per say but the chocolate seems to be working against the bitter burnt graininess, which should work better than it does. I gotta hand it to em’ though this is much drier than the passerby would expect from a "chocolate stout" Palate is a little watery and almost has kind a chalky character. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Mar 16, 2009 black but not opaque. ruby hued. very thin head with only a cream color. dry roasty aroma with more coffee than chocolate. milk chocolate shows in flavor along with a decent amount of roasted malts. the beer fails in the palate category with only a light to medium body and not much creaminess.
