Aroma- Coffee mostly, with chocolate at a close second. Very rich aroma. Medium green-apple esters.
Appearance- Very dark brown, almost black. No clarity, with a small, tan head that dissapates quickly.
Flavor- High in hop flavor and bitterness, but it does not persist. The chocolate and coffee flavors take over quickly. Great malt presence, which is mostly represented by chocolate and coffee roasted flavors. Sweetness is quite low.
Palate- Light to medium body. Little alcohol warmth.
Overall- A very tasty beer. It is a stout that is extremely drinkable.

Very dry and not much of a finish. Big disappointment. hophead21112 (121), Louisville (LEWISville), Colorado, USA
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Dec 11, 2009 Dark brown pour with a tan head. Aroma consists of sweet grain, coffee, not much else. Not many detectable flavors in this one... it has medium sweetness, and is lightly bitter with medium body, slick feel, soft carbonation with an abrupt finish. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 9, 2009 Bottle as part of a mix6. Nose is pretty bland - dark malt, light roasts and a weird vegetal earthiness that doesn’t really fit. Tastes standard stout - some hazelnut and creamy roasted malt. Light bitter coffee finish. Unremarkable, though quite drinkable. jeremytoni (1114), Swedesboro, New Jersey, USA

It is medium bodied with burnt chocolate at the fore and slight nuttiness. Nothing you need to wrap your mind around. zdk (245), New York, USA

Nice chocolately flavor with a little charcoal. finishes with a hoppy bite. Good, but not as good as the double chocolate stout. BREWMUSKCLES (1080), New Jersey, USA
