12oz. bottle. Clear orange/amber color with a small beige head. Sweet malty aroma with some mild smoked notes, dark dried fruits and caramel. Smokiness is mild in the flavor also, which is again somewhat sweet with lots of molasses, raisins and some bitterness on the finish. Alcohol was well hidden.

Bottle thanks to Blake. A pretty beer - clear purple-brown body under a frothy tan head. Salty dried ham/fish aroma with a sweet bock undertone. I like the flavor because the fishiness calms down and shares the spotlight with the malt. Starts out with tart fruity hidden under intense malt with a finish of salty dried ham and the tartness from the fruit. The salty smoke fits very well with the bock elements. Rich mouthfeel.

Bottle poured a clear dark reddish brown with a small amber head. Aromas of dark fruit, molasses, and a hint of smoke. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of smoked raisins, roasted malt and a bit of molasses with a smooth lingering, smokey bittersweet finish.

On draught at GABF. Early malty sweetness leads to bolder dark malt character. Very nice.

Thanks to Lumpy for the bottle. Deep amber color, classic lager palate, although very salty. Aroma of olives and meaty brine. Malta and oak started the mouth, finishing with an ash-martini. This brew was quite headache inducing, I usually prefer the hangover the next day, not when I dirnk the beer.

Sampled at the Milwaukee YEHa!05 courtesy of JPDIPSO: Pours a transparent copper orange with a thin light tan head. Sweet toasty caramel and salty smokey aroma is very enticing. Starts with sweet, sticky earthy, smokey caramel malt nicely balanced with a touch of bitterness and good German lager yeast character. Very drinkable and authentic, while hiding its alcohol well.

Poured a clear reddish amber color with a small beige head. Aroma of light smoke and sweet fruity malt. Light raisins and grapes. Smoke keeps increasing as the beer warmed. Malty sweet flavors with smoke mixed through. Light to medium body. I thought this would have had a bigger body than it did.

Bottle and served in a pint glass: Poured a russet hue with a small fizzy head that produced okay lacing. The aroma has notes of heavy caramel and smoked malts, ripened pear, floral hops, light alcoholic vapors and earthy yeast esters. The taste is mildly smoked and meaty with a nice counterbalance of bitterness supported by rich roasted and sweet malt notes. Some subdued fruit tones and even a quick whisper of chocolate. The feel is chalky and a bit sharp on the outside, could be more sticky or heavier. A neat brew and smoked quite nicely so it is not over-the-top. A would drink this again for sure.
