Sampled at tronraner’s Xmas Eve^3 tasting. I have been looking for this beer for quite a while and here it turns up right across the street from where I work! Good aromas of raisin, plum, and light ham. The flavors of ham, peat, and campfire do a pretty good job of masking the alcohol, but it is still evident. This is a really good beer, but it’s also really expensive, so even though I would certainly drink this again, it’s just too pricey to become a cellar staple for me :(

22oz from a good buddy - thanks, Jeff!!! Dark brown-amber pour, suffers a tad from lack of appropriate carbonation (and consequently the mouthfeel is a bit thin too). A shame because this is one helluva flavorful beer! Smoke leaps out aggressively from the start - fine by me - but settles in over time to this fine beer, malty, with notes of campfire, molasses, nuts, and toffee. I would definitely like some more of this!

Bomber, spelled Doppel Bock on my label. The body was a nice mahogany with a thin light khaki head. The aroma is lightly toasted with some smoked almonds. there is also some caramel. The highly carbonated body has some smoked tastes along with a rich walnut character. There is also some light toffee. Nicely done, this is a pleasure to sip.

Bottle at Xmas Eve Eve Eve. Pours dark rust color with small beige head. Aroma is raisin, light smoke, rye, and some malt. The flavor is smoky bacon, some mild maltiness, and some woody bitterness. Not too shabby.

Dark ruby Hazy Color. Small offwhite head. Nose is smokey, tobacco, earthy, mollasses, beef jerkey haha. Initial taste is very smokey, tobacco, mollasses, chocolate. Mid palate is smokey and tangy. Finishing smokey touch of roasted malt. The vinous characters of this beer throws me off. Definitely and interesting one for sure. Mild head retention and average palate duration.

tronraner’s Xmas Eve Eve Eve Tasting. Sample from a bottle thanks to Butters. Nice rubied red with a thin tannish head. Spicy smokey aroma. Chocolate and smoke notes. Good stuff.

650 ml shared by Butters at Christmas Eve^3. Clear darkish brown with a creamy ring of foam that lasts and spots some soapy lace. Aroma is molasses and light smoked meat. Flavor is a nice blend of hickory smoked ham, chocolate and molasses. Medium-heavy body is smooth and well-dried by the smoke.

Reddish brown, thin ring of foam. Interesing beer - the smoked character is a huge player, but doesnt overpower. There are notes of rye and pine, maybe even some fruity notes, and a nice, almost subtle layer of smoke. Thanks to Butters for bringing this to the Maryville tasting!
