Reddish brown, thin ring of foam. Interesing beer - the smoked character is a huge player, but doesnt overpower. There are notes of rye and pine, maybe even some fruity notes, and a nice, almost subtle layer of smoke. Thanks to Butters for bringing this to the Maryville tasting!

Bomber shared by Butters at Joe’s Christmas Eve Eve Eve tasting. Hah, I had to pull a trade for this after searching in PA, NC, and OK and here comes Butters with a bomber from Nashville after I secured a trade from CO for it. Well, the good news is it is delicious and I am excited to have more to enjoy. The aroma is what I would expect from Fort Collins making a serious smoked beer. It is very meaty with bacon and campfire in large amounts. The mouthfeel is full and creamy. I get lots of bacon, crisp wood smoke. Flavors of bacon fat come out. Barley vinous flavors are buried in there, but this is all about the smoked meat. Thank you, Fort Collins, for understanding what a smoked beer is supposed to be like. But, uh, it is still no Schlenkerla.

Bomber, thanks to acrdz. Pours dark, cloudy, with a small head. Not as much smoke as I recall in the aroma. What I get more is the dopplebock-fruity, candy stuff going on. Smoked meat is around, but doesn’t fully culminate until I take a sip and ponder the finish. Each sip allows more smoke to become apparent. I would enjoy this much more if it had less doppelbock identity and more smoke identity. The use of smoke is tasteful and well incorporated, but I would like more blantant meat and campfire flavor.

Bottle from Liquor Depot. Not bad at all. The bomber I got was only 8%, not the 10.2 listed here. Absolutely smoked. Not as dark or caramelized as I like my bocks - also missing a firm grain flavor. Not a bad beer though!

Bottle courtesy BeerandBlues2. Pours a reddish brown with a thin off white head. Sweet caramel malt aroma with a nice smoked meat character. Smooth malt body, nicely smoked with hints of caramel and brown sugar. Really a perfect blend of smoke and malt, very drinkable and would be a perfect match with sausage.

Bottle, and by far the best thing to come out of this brewery. Pours a mahogany body with a 2 finger khaki head. Sweet smoked malt, bbq spices, maple and smoked meat. This all comes together very well.

Aroma is a smoky roasted scent. Color is a deep ruby with good carbonation and a thick tight tan head. Taste is rich and smoky. Starting with a full body it goes down with a rich creamy feel. Finish comes on with a sweet maltiness then a roasted almost burnt taste that is bursting with a charcoal smoke taste. After taste is a rich feel with the smoke lingering on a while. Very good brew, lots of flavor that hides the alcohol very well.

On tap at brewery. Pours a red brown color with a good size tan head. Smells of smoke, malt and choclate. Taste is strongly smokey, with a little caramel and hop taste in there.

12oz bottle. Pours brownish copper, with a moderate sized tan head. Aroma of smoke, caramel malt, chocolate, and jerky. Smoke is the dominant flavor, with some coffee, caramel, and hops in the finish. Intense smoke flavor seems to mask the alcohol well. Interesting beer.
