(12oz bottle, thanks Barry) Crystal clear copper body with small beige head. Aroma is medium sweet, smoked cheese, caramel, some cherry. Taste is moderately sweet, cherry, caramel, some smoke, light roast. Medium-full body, alcohol is well-masked.

12oz bottles acquired in a few trades. Bottle had a 2006 label on it. Poured a deep orangish color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of smoked meats (with some smoked fish), caramel, chocolate, and roast. The smoke was definitely in the forefront. Tastes of smoke (but not as strong as the aroma), caramel, light chocolate, and toffee. The smoke was done nicely all around in this one. Just noticed it was 10.2% and never would have guessed that!

Clear amber to orange looks are completed by this diminishing off-white head. Mashy toasted grain aroma offers a generous nutty foreground on which garden coffee takes a lot of room. Nicely dry in mouth, it procures all kinds of smoky hints that reach their pinnacle in a meaty leather appetizer. Woody, beany and plain comfortable, it unfortunately gets a little out of the way to greatness by suggesting soy sauce amids its rocking cigary known range. Nevertheless, the global balance is nice, with more bitterness than most, yet ground-breaking all the more. Unbelievably well masked alcohol. Solid!

Sampled at the Milwaukee YEHa!05 courtesy of JPDIPSO: Pours a transparent copper orange with a thin light tan head. Sweet toasty caramel and salty smokey aroma is very enticing. Starts with sweet, sticky earthy, smokey caramel malt nicely balanced with a touch of bitterness and good German lager yeast character. Very drinkable and authentic, while hiding its alcohol well.

Bottle... This beer rocks!... Clear, dark orange lager with a small, creamy, white head. Decent retention. Smoked bacon and caramel malt nose. Big and malty, sweet and smoky flavor. Adequate bitterness and a hint of acidity. Full-bodied and oily with modest carbonation. Lengthy, bitter, smoky finish. Kudos to boboski for sharing his bottle with us!

The Lure:
Rising smoke remains second-hand, deepening the caramel malts and their competent fruitiness. Some earth solidifies the whole, this must be a wise sipper.

The Festivities:
Alcohol is well-hidden for its size and only exists in the warming that follows the swallow. Attractive smoke fumes hover over the cereal and earth blend. A beautifully crafted and serene monarch.

Transcendence:
Respect the sleeping volcano.
