soapbox (15), Alabama, USA Nov 8, 2009 Tastes like a melted bar of dark chocolate with a hint of coffee. I could go on and on but the most striking thing with this beer is the body. Has a nice feel to it. I would like to have a regular FCB chocolate stout to try with it. tnkw01 (124), USA Nov 6, 2009 Bottle. Very dark beer. Not as chocolately as I thought it would be. A little more bitter then I thought it would be. Otherwise a very good beer. Did taste the slight coffee flavor, didn’t really get the licorice that is sometimes mentioned. Will drink again. Recommended. HonkeyBra (1264), Lemont, Illinois, USA Oct 30, 2009 Black pour with chocolate milk colored head. Aroma of bakers chocolate, some coffee. Flavor is bitter chocolate, licorice, some coffee. Smooth mouthfeel. This is like the ultimate girlfriend brew, keeps some on hand if you’ve got a lady friend coming over. sebletitje (1880), Tampa, Florida, USA Oct 26, 2009 pours dark brown, beige head.
Aroma of chocolate, roasted malts with hints of coffee.
Flavor, lots of roasted malts, thin hints of spices, with a faint chocolate bitterness, and chocolate powder.Overall mouthfeel keeps a nice chocolate presence followed by a small touch of bitterness. scoth (266), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA Oct 21, 2009 Pours viscous dark brown, black and inky in the glass, with a one-finger tan head, very fine and lasting lacing. Aromas of dark chocolate, espresso, molasses and pine. Full, thick body, zesty and crisp. Rich chocolate and coffee flavors, warming, some strong molasses sweetness, nearly balanced out by earthy pine wood and a hint of citrus. Barrios (852), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Jul 31, 2009 Pours a dark brown body and a light tan head. Flavor and aroma of toast, malt, little smoke, some coffee and cocoa notes that are very faint. GranvilleTim (465), Granville, Illinois, USA Jul 21, 2009 Rich dark pour with mocha brown head. Aroma of chocolate and roasted malt. Taste is the same, although it is a little thin. There is a little coffee in the aftertaste. OK overall. Nice lacing on the glass. 41cubs (131), , New Jersey, USA Jul 7, 2009 Aroma is bitter chocolate and sweet tobacco leaves. The earthiness in the flavor is more pronounced with an almost dirty metallic taste layered with cocoa nibs. Great mouthfeel in this with heft and a crispness due to the lingering carbonation. Nice beer, one of the only stouts that I remember liking more cold than warmer. Thanks Fort Collins. 2009 22 oz.
