Pours a deep brown almost black with a smaller bubbly light tan head that left light lacing. Aroma of milk chocolate, coffee, nuts, caramel and light toffee. Flavor was a match of the aroma.

650 ml. Opaque with a one-finger head that settles to a lasting disc that leaves some soapy lace. Aroma is coffee, cocoa and light whiskey. Flavor is the same, plus some char and light spicy herb. Doesn’t seem to have quite enough caramel malt to provide a good balance to the strong burnt coffee taste. Medium body is smooth at first but has some carbonation flareup at the finish. Roasty, dry finish. A bit of a disappointment, as was the regular chocolate stout.

Nice dark color - head could be browner. Nice roasty aroma and flavors primarily of older coffee and vodka. I am baffled at the classification as Sweet Stout. It really reminds me of Avery’s Out of Bounds - a dry stout. IMHO, this is what the regular Chocolate Stout should tatste like; the Double should be off the hook.

In short: A very thin Chocolate Stout. Below average.
How: Bottle 12oz, drank fresh soon after purchase
The look: Black body topped by a beige ring of foam
In long: Nose of black chocolate. Very simple beer offering black chocolate and some light roasted notes. I don’t expect complexity from a chocolate stout but the problem with this one was the rather watery body and weak flavours. Way below average and with so many easily available and affordable solid chocolate stouts in the USA (Rogue, Brooklyn, Young’s, etc.) this one will have a harder time to find regular customers than a Taco Bell in Mexico City.

solid brown color, thin tan head that quickly receeds to tiny bubbles. roasted malt, chocolate malts, sweet malts in the aroma. roasted malt, chocolate, sweet malt and coffe tones in the flavor. not as creamy sweet as the nose suggests. medium-bodied, with a slightly bitter finish. more enjoyable than i anticipated, as this is not a favorite style.

Pours absolute pitch, no light shining through. Medium head with medium lacing Aroma is large, brownie batter, cherries, oak, and a slight lemon note. Flavor is equally big, though subdued enough to not be overly done as too many beers are these days. Initially very dry dark chocolate, woody notes, mild fruit in the backdrop, some mild hops spice, and a long, tobacco finish. I think this bottle is abit older and dryer than when it was bottled, which turned out nicely. Well done big beer.
