Bottle. Huge, sticky, rich chocolate malt and roast all over this, rich mocha and dry cocoa powder, hints at complexity but settles down into something more one-dimensional. Finish is moderately thick, heavy with roast and smoked malt, but there’s some bitter, astringent grains, and the chocolate is somewhat simple and pasty. Decent beer, for sure, but by the end of the glass I was looking for something else.

Six month rule. Way past six month rule. Not wowed like other rich stouts, but I still felt: nice. Good chocolate tones and not weak at all in its body. Very full. One of this brewery’s best, if not its best.

Black pour with a small tan head. Aroma is a thick mix of chocolate and espresso. Taste is heavy of coffee and dry semi-sweet chocolate. Some earthy notes are there as well.

22oz bottle: Black, black, black body with a firm, tightly packed tan head. The nose is big and boisterous with lots of sweet chocolate and roasty coffee notes. Big and chewy body offers a more rounded dark malt profile. Heavy plum and raisin are met with equally big doses of fudge, brownie and caramel. Bitter coffee balances things out and leave a heavy espresso imprint on the tongue in the finish. Very solid all the way around.

Bottle and served in my Unibroue tulip: Opaque with a tan frothy head and left spotty lace upon the glass. The aroma has notes of chocolate, tobacco, plum, toast, a hint of coffee, oat and a a chalky vapour. The taste is not as sweet as I feared, nice balance of chocolate with some acidity and hop bitterness. The coffee tone shows more as it warms. A tad astringent upon the finish. The mouth feel is okay, oily but not very heavy. A solid sweet stout.

Very dark pour with a dark tan head. Minimal lacing. Nose is of chocolate and coffee. These are nicely mixed in the taste, with a pinch of hops to give it a little kick. Mouthfeel starts out light but deepens. Finish is long, sweet and mellow.

Bottle. Poured a nice black body with thin head. Aroma is sweet milk chocolate, lgith hops. Flavor is sweet chcolate, sweet maltiness, light coffee. Nice roasty character with a mild sweetness to it. Not as silky or creamy as I would have guessed.
