Aroma is bitter chocolate and sweet tobacco leaves. The earthiness in the flavor is more pronounced with an almost dirty metallic taste layered with cocoa nibs. Great mouthfeel in this with heft and a crispness due to the lingering carbonation. Nice beer, one of the only stouts that I remember liking more cold than warmer. Thanks Fort Collins. 2009 22 oz.

Bottle: pours dark black with thin tan head. Beautiful, sweet nose. Nice malty taste, with roasted coffee and chocolate lingering taste. Medium body with light carbonation. Surprisingly easy to drink, very little bitterness. A well balanced, enjoyable brew.

Sampled at the Alexi Distributors event at Limelight. Thanks Jim Bird! Clear dark brown pour with wispy light brown head. Nutty on the nose. Chocolatey bitterness in the finish. Medium bodied. Not the best thing that i’ve had from these guys, but not a bad beer by any stretch.

Bottle. Opaque, nearly black, dark brown pour, Compact tan colored head with lots of fizz. It fades away leaving dotted lacing. Aroma is dark chocolate, sweetened black coffee, molasses, and a hint of vanilla. Roasted malts are there too, but that is rather obvious. Taste is chocolate, roasted malt, light coffee, molasses, soft alcohol, brownies and light licorice. Body is creamy and smooth with a medium overall feel. Not as chewy as I hoped. Ends with more chocolate notes, roasted malt, light chocolate cookie, burnt brownies, coffee and molasses. Rather tasty beer!

Pours very dark with mocha head and spotty lacing. The aroma is burnt malts, earthiness, a touch of black licorice, hints of oxidation and molasses. The taste is smooth and neutral to start and then running into earthy oxidation, burnt malts and just noticeable nearly bitter dark chocolate. It gets dry and roasty with some astringency and mild amounts of bitter chocolate into the finish and after taste.

The aroma is more roasted malts than chocolate, although a little chocolate is in there. Some slightly sour milk in there, too. The appearance is dark brown/black, thin tan head. The flavor is bitter chocolate, roasted coffee, and again milk. The finish has a piney, astringent hop quality. The mouthfeel is nice, thick and silky. Decent, but as a stout lover I had hoped for more.

Dark brown black color with almost no head. The first whiff from the bottle is slight dark chocolate and then hops, oddly enough. There is also a hint of roasted something in there. The taste does not quite match the smell. Bitter like old coffee and not much chocolate at all. The mouthfeel is very thin. I would rather have the regular chocolate stout from Ft. Collins. Bottle. Aroma of raisins, plums, prunes, sweet malt, some sweet chocolate (though nowhere near what I would hope for in something with "double chocolate" in the name). Flavor again very sweet with some chocolate notes and roasted malt, as well as an odd grapy/asphalt astringency. It’s definitely drinkable, so I can’t slam it, but at the same time, drinkable is about the best term I can use for it.
