Commercial Description:
The most decadent creation ever to be crafted in FCB's brewhouse. Deep roasty flavors, rich chocolate nose, coffee undertones and impeccable balance are the result of imperializing an already flawless brew.

Bottle. Poured black with a frothy tan head. Appears highly carbonated. Roasty aroma with chocolate of course. Mocha flavor with hints of roast. Medium body. Tingly carbonation. medium bitterness that ends with a slight roast/coffee aftertaste. (Rating from March ’08)

Deep pitch black coloured body, fully opaque with a very thin brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, chocolate (of course) and a very interesting light pungent cranberry or currant aroma. Medium to full-bodied; Strong sweet malt flavours dominate with coffee and oatmeal tastes as well. Aftertaste has plenty of sweetness, chocolate (milk - ~40% cacao), lactic milk tastes and even a hint of the tart fruits. Overall, a nice complex beer for the style. This one almost reminds me of a lighter imperial, and I guess the alcohol shows it as well - but the sweetness and mildness of the initial taste make for a very interesting beer! I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased on 09-May-2008 from K&E Discount Beverage in New Paltz, New York sampled on 20-August-2008 at home in Washington, D.C.

Bomber poured a translucent dark brown nearly black with a small lasting tan head. Aromas of coffee, dark chocolate and light vanilla. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of coffee, dark chocolate and hints of smoke and vanilla with a smooth lingering roasty finish.Nice easy drinkin beer!

Bottle. Huge, sticky, rich chocolate malt and roast all over this, rich mocha and dry cocoa powder, hints at complexity but settles down into something more one-dimensional. Finish is moderately thick, heavy with roast and smoked malt, but there’s some bitter, astringent grains, and the chocolate is somewhat simple and pasty. Decent beer, for sure, but by the end of the glass I was looking for something else.

Six month rule. Way past six month rule. Not wowed like other rich stouts, but I still felt: nice. Good chocolate tones and not weak at all in its body. Very full. One of this brewery’s best, if not its best.

Black pour with a small tan head. Aroma is a thick mix of chocolate and espresso. Taste is heavy of coffee and dry semi-sweet chocolate. Some earthy notes are there as well.
