First Impression: Aroma is nice, malty, syrupy, and dark. Visuals are absolutely black opaque body under a tan head that thins quickly. Taste is chocolate, coffee, malt, and roasty goodness. Delicious. Palate is thin, wet, and sweet. Finish is short lived and simply bitter. Second Impression - not a great beer, not overwhelming, but not bad. There are better beers for less per ounce than this one, but it was a fairly enjoyable experience.

beerheart (232), Erie, Colorado, USA Nov 30, 2008 I found this disappointing. I like a good chocolate stout and enjoy Young’s, Stone’s, and the Fort Collins original chocolate stout. This poured watery. The roasted coffee aroma and flavor really overpowered that of the chocolate. sirpsycho (205), Murrysville, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 30, 2008 Bottle at the Headkeeper (Greensburg). Pours a very deep, dark brown, tan head. Aroma is chocolate, malt and a touch of roasted coffee in the background. Flavor serves up a slightly bitter chocolate and overly roasted malt profile. aplusbreaks (129), , Colorado, USA Nov 28, 2008 22oz bottle. Pours a dark brown with a decent sized tan head and moderate lacing. Aromas of roasted malts, coffee, a bit of chocolate(more as it warmed) and peanut butter(I swear I smelled pb). Flavor is at first chocolate, then roasted bitter malts. Plate is a bit thin and oily, but overall not a bad beer. MAP (910), Lakewood, Ohio, USA Nov 27, 2008 I poured this one a good 20 minutes ago and let it sit next to me to warm up a little. I kept getting whiffs of chocolate and grains and I couldn’t wait any longer. The aroma really comes across with a rich roasted chocolate smell, deep and full bodied. The palate starts and ends with a very smooth viscous mouth feel. The middle of the beer has a bittersweet chocolate zing to it. The flavor is a smooth roasted chocolate that ends with a slight dryness in tangent with the viscous mouthfeel. kpresley77 (110), Jackson, Georgia, USA Nov 27, 2008 Bottle courtesy of alraicercsu pours opaque black with thin quik disapating tan head. Aroma is dark roasted malt with a hint of some kind of fruit. First taste is roasted malt, then a slight coffee bitterness. The coffee taste lingers. Carbonation is nice but it is a little watery. More like a stout not very sweet.
