ross (1495), charlotte, North Carolina, USA May 11, 2008 Bomber from Total Wine. I was glad to find this one since my buddy who can get these beers NEGLECTED to buy me any. That would be smitty the cocksucker, the one who blows Robert Plant, the anal pirate of Nashville. Thanks, I’ll remember that when it comes time to send you your beer. This beer is the first bomber I have seen from Fort Collins, so I decided to pick one up. Pours out pitch black with a thick brown head on it. Smell is full of roasted malts, chocolate, and some coffee. The taste is where the beer proves that it is a ’double chocolate’ stout. It is pretty much like drinking a Hershey bar with alcohol. Smooth too, and very rich. The 22 oz bomber was quite an undertaking but it was well worth it. Nice stuff actually from a brewery which I do not typically care for.
uhclem (110), Loveland, Colorado, USA Jul 15, 2008 Very dark pour with a dark tan head. Minimal lacing. Nose is of chocolate and coffee. These are nicely mixed in the taste, with a pinch of hops to give it a little kick. Mouthfeel starts out light but deepens. Finish is long, sweet and mellow. jason (1465), Easton, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 15, 2008 Bottle. Poured a nice black body with thin head. Aroma is sweet milk chocolate, lgith hops. Flavor is sweet chcolate, sweet maltiness, light coffee. Nice roasty character with a mild sweetness to it. Not as silky or creamy as I would have guessed. coldbrewky (456), Saugerties, New York, USA Jul 15, 2008 Pours a shimmering blackish brown with a tan head that settles. not much in the way of lacing. Nose is caramel malt and some hint of coffee. Body is medium with slick chocolate tone. Overall feel is quick. Sweet body flows nicely till coffee bitterness apears and leads to the slightly lingering aftertaste. Finally, another brew that doesn’t overdo it with the coffee. I was hoping for a more abundant nose. timsilvia32 (105), born in Michigan, North Carolina, USA Jul 12, 2008 Nice black pour with a pretty light head. Smell the chocolate, like a Mocha Starbucks drink. Very heavy and varying tones of chocolate, has a nice bite, covers the ABV well. Like a chocolate RIS, which is what I think they were going for. Lowe1983 (727), Fairborn, Ohio, USA Jul 12, 2008 Pours a dark brown color with a tan head. Aroma is light of chocolate, coffee, roasted malts, caramel malts, and molasses. Flavor is sweet with chocolate and molasses at first. Light undertones of coffee and roasted malts. Finishes slightly bitter.
