Growler. Pours opaque with a foamy brown head, moderate retention. Aroma is cocoa, cream, faint caramel. Lots of bitterness and chocolate dominate the palate. Slight molasses. Finish has that nice blend of roasted malt and bitter hops. Just a touch sour. Medium bodied, texture is soft. Probably FCB’s best dark ale effort since Chocolate Stout, although the two beers are similar.

Had this on our bike/brew tour, so this rating will be expanded on the next go-round.

Draught at the brewery. Fairly dark, basically black in the glass. Thin tan head. Ok nose of dark malts and citrusy hops. Fairly complex malt bill, but also pretty raw hoppy, with grapefruit hints. Good first attempt for them at this style. They should keep tweakng the recipe. Good beer overall.
