DrnkMcDermott (1832), Downers Grove, Illinois, USA Nov 4, 2009 12 oz. bottle. A pleasant, lightly fruity smell to start with. Looks like a regular beer, puffy head that dwindled quickly. Taste runs to the sour side, like DFH Festina Peche. I find myself rather liking it. I was concerned about the "pomegranate extract" as mentioned on the label, but it’s just a little bit saccharine. Very dry finish. Worth a try. lowgun1212 (75), Montclair, New Jersey, USA Oct 27, 2009 light strawberry blond with a 2 finger head that dissipates fast. smells of yeast, tropical fruit, american hops, wheat. flavor is strawberry, orange, white grape, light hop. sweet(too much so) and crisp. mouth feel at least compliments with a spritzery feel. was hoping the pomegranate would be more present, dryer, tart. not offensive but not intriguing either. derekbrown (17), Greenville, North Carolina, USA Oct 26, 2009 Major Tom’s Pomegranate Wheat pours a beautiful straw color with a reddish tinge. An ivory head forms, as expected, but disappointingly, it does not last (10-15 seconds or so). The aroma is slightly sweet, but is not very noticeable in passing. You really have to go after it to get the aroma. On the nose of the beer, there is definitely a crisp, tart taste that should be familiar to wheat-ale fans. There seems to be missing the pomegranate part of the pomegranate wheat. Not much fruit taste for this to be a fruit ale. The finish is not as nice as I’d like, almost like flavored soda water. The beer does have a great mouthfeel for a witbier, and if it weren’t for the disappointing finish, I’d recommend this just as a simple session beer if you have it on hand. Not worth seeking out at the store, though. 13mikey (118), New Hope, Minnesota, USA Oct 23, 2009 12 oz bottle from the Four Firkins. Straw color with decent but quickly dissipating head. Decent wheat/yeast aroma with a hint of citrus. Flavor and finish are tangy and tart but I’m not getting the pomegranate from this.... maybe just a hint in the finish. Decent session beer, especially in the summer. 13allison (5), USA does not count Oct 23, 2009 12 ounce bottle purchased at The Four Firkins. Citrus aroma. golden color. Some lacing. Head didn’t last. Sweet flavor to start, but tart finish. Not a lot of pomegranate taste, which I was expecting more of from this beer. Something I might try again but am interested in trying other fruit beers first. Ace2731 (2), New Jersey, USA does not count Oct 20, 2009 Golden ale, not much of an aroma, pleasant taste very light hops, very light fruity notes. Lubiere (4464), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Oct 19, 2009 A hazy golden ale with a thin white head. A rather doughy alt aroma, wiht light hops, and notes of oxidation. In mouth, a nice wheaty malt with some nice hops, a bit floral, a rather nice lasting bitterness, some fruity notes in finale, becoming cloying. Medium bodied. Bottle from Fort Collins mix 12-pack, bought at Half Time, July 2008. shp555 (1678), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Oct 7, 2009 Pours a golden yellow color with a white head. Aroma is some malt, a hint of wheat, and a hint of fruit. Flavor is caramel, some wheat, and a slight hint of tart pomegranate.
