jah noth (1015), Rochester, New York, USA Nov 7, 2009 Funky vegetal aroma. Very pretty red in color with quickly disappearing head. Sour mash flavor is rather off-putting. Herbal hops, cough syrup and slight chocoff. Not too tasty. Lubiere (4463), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Nov 7, 2009 A reddish brown ale with a thick moka head. Nice nutty caramel malt in aroma, with light restrained British hops. In mouth, a nice nutty malt with herbal notes, nice light hopping, very quaffable, even more than a year in the cellar. Bottle from mix 12-pack, Halftime, summer 2008. RealPoser (23), Tampa, Florida, USA Oct 15, 2009 pours garnet with a ruddy head, which diminishes fairly quick. Has the aroma of wet leaves. Slight lace during consumption. Thin, dry mouthfeel. Malt backbone but not sweet. slight bitter finish. Toasty. shp555 (1678), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Oct 7, 2009 Pours a nice amber color with a tan head. Aroma is aged malts, caramel, a hint of roast, and some earthy hops. Flavor is aged malts, a hint of crystal malts, toast, and a light bitter spicy finish. michael-pollack (2605), King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 7, 2009 12oz. Bottle: Aroma of malts, cocoa, and light toasted caramel. Poured deep orange/ruby in color with a small, creamy, dense, tan head that diminished but lasted throughout. Clear. Sparkling. Decent lacing. Flavor is lightly sweet. Tastes of malts, cocoa, and toasted caramel. Medium body. Dry texture. Average carbonation. Caramel, cocoa, ans light malt finish is lightly dry. yemenmocha (344), Glendale, Arizona, USA Sep 19, 2009 Pours dark brown, almost a nut brown ale in appearance. Modest head didn’t last. Still, quite aromatic but somewhat unpleasant - the caramelly nutty nose just came across in an "off" way to me.
On the palate is a sickly sweet caramel taste with some hop balance, but still it’s mostly a caramel extract like sweetness. Finish is short. KAggie97 (2406), Ugly, Hot, and Humid Spring, Texas, USA Sep 18, 2009 Bottle.
Pours an average mahogany with a thin, almost lifeless body that doesn’t even begin to entice the drinker. Semi-decent head that quickly fades into the body. Aroma is nutty cotton candy, a touch of cinammon, a pinch of nutmeg, and a smidgen of pumpkin. Flavor is a watery mess of nutty malt, pureed vegetables, weak pumpkin, and butter. Weak, lifeless mouthfeel. Blech. fluffy (229), Florida, USA Sep 12, 2009 a pale ale disguised as a amber/red ale. bleh. great if you like IPAs and PAs. but yet another company getting too hop happy.
