Nice brick color, though the thin head disappeared rapidly, more like a brown ale than a red/amber. Much darker in the malts than I would have expected from the style, with a little chocolate bitterness (with the hops adding to the bittersweetness of the chocolate). The finish is way too sweet, with an earthy sweetness like molasses or caramelized veggies. I’ve had far, far worse, but I’ve also had much better. Ughsmash (4079), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 25, 2007 Bottled. Poured clear, but a murky shade of reddish-brown with a very short-lived cap of off-white head. The aroma picked up lightly-smoked caramel and darker fruits with pine and herbal accents.. very floral and flagrant.. I enjoyed it. The flavor was on the sweet side, again with lightly-smoked caramel, adding toffee.. more fruits on the back-end with a sharp, not-so-well balanced bitterness.. finishes very sweet. Light-medium bodied on the palate with lower carbonation (wish it was a little more active).. didn’t enjoy the finish so much. ph0tik (71), Denver, Colorado, USA

Floral hop aroma. Has some hop bite on the front end, more than your typical amber. Hop kind of overpowers the malt, but it still has a toasted almond, bread dough flavor to it. Not bad, solid Amber, very drinkable. Thanks Andy!! pepsican (885), The Student Ghetto, Iowa, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 8, 2007 Light ruby with a tan head. More malty than hops in the nose. Tastes almost like a porter, smoke and hops with a bit of caramel and molasses. Completely different than I expected, but pretty good. natedoggkc (164), Lenexa, Kansas, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 30, 2007 Pours a deep red with a toasty brown head. Aroma of malt and a touch of hoppiness. Taste is on the toasty side with a nice bitterness that finishes. Gregis (1135), Shawnee, Kansas, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Oct 29, 2007 Pours a deep, clear, reddish brown with a small, creamy, beige head, decent lacing and tons of rising bubbles. The nose is a solid malty/peaty front with lightly fruity hops in the background. Light to medium-bodied with a super slick palate and a toasted, lightly dry finish. The flavor follows the nose with toasted and lightly peaty malt backed by just enough fruity hop bite to keep things in balance. I’m not a big fan of most ambers, but this one is pretty decent.
