| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 26, 2007 12oz bottle. Aroma: Deep caramel and sweet maltiness, dark fruits and chocolate. Appearance: Deep red in color and clear. Khaki head was medium and frothy with fair retention. Not much lacing. Flavor: Lots of caramel and sweet maltiness. Raisins and plums, chocolate and cola. Light bitterness. Palate: Medium bodied. Medium carbonation. Overall: Kind of like a scottish ale meets an Amber. I liked the caramel flavors here, but the beer overall could have used some more ’oomph’. PorterPounder (3143), Tallahassee, Florida, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 11, 2007 Updated: Jun 16, 2007Bottle. Clear, dark copper with a large head that lasts and laces. Aroma is toasted nut, roast barley and slight metallic hop. Flavor is toasted nut and dry-roasted barley tending towards some coffee with a nicely contrasting, sour fruit flavor. Malt is balanced out by some hops that finish slightly bittering, and maybe a tad citrus. This beer could almost be a porter; the chocolate malt and/or roasted barley is the dominant taste, but not so overpowering as in some porter or stouts. Palate is smooth and medium-bodied. raymow (738), Bensalem, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 1, 2007 It is malty and it is red - retro, I’m not sure but whatever. This was definitely drinkable but nothing to write home about. I’d say average (but with a pretty cool label).
