Light brown head. Amber red color. Smells of biscuits, malt, and hops. Taste a little caramel, tea. Metallic also. Spicy hop finish.

Bottle. Earthy Aroma. Very malty. Burnt caramel dominates. Somewhat bitter finish. OK but not outstanding.

Bottle. Retro Red pours a lovely ruby with a little bit of a beige head. Aromas are nothing like I would have guessed... they are kind of earthy (nuts, red wine, peat, toffee), with little hops presence. I am not sure what I expected, just that this was not it. The nutty malt presence comes through heavily in the flavor. This is pretty good, but is just another amber. I have no idea what they are talking about with their "our hoppiest Specialty Ale." Hops are hard to find apart from a bit of an herbal edge to the finish.

Pours deep ruby with a tall tan head with good retention and sparse lacing. Aroma is of caramel, wood, toast and grainy malts. Flavor is toast, caramel, sweet and toasty fresh granola. Finish is slightly bitter and herbal hops with a lingering burnt sugar. Palate is a bit thick for a red and not too sticky.

disappointing, not smooth as I expect from a red, acrid taste....doesn’t prompt having a second

Not red enough in color to be a "Retro Red." Very small head the quickly disappears. Not much of an aroma, but what I can make out isn’t bad. Nice balance between the hops and the malts. I thought the hop flavor really dominated the taste, which was surprising for an amber ale. I enjoyed the hops, but I don’t think it was very true to form.
