Commercial Description:
The Maibock has been lagering in our cellars since December of 2003. It's a malty bronze color brew with a fairly high gravity. We threw in a touch or Rauch Malt for fun.

Chestnut russet. Creamy custard froth deposits sparse but intricate lace with each sip. Complex malt aromas of caramel-drenched nuts, bread pudding, plums and butter toffee. Extremely raisiny with a hint of red licorice. Carbonation is fluffy yet tight on the palate. Full bodied. Soothingly malty and pillowy with a delicate nuttiness which gracefully rolls over the palate as it links up with a pronounced yet beautifully composed plummy fruitiness. Powdery notes of hay-tinged malt imparts texture and depth as it contrasts with the slick and succulent plummy fruitiness. Very clean and well extracted maltiness. Candied malt flavors are firm with a honeyed biscuit, toffee-glazed and candy apple quality. Red licorice also exudes in plentitude. Faint metallic twang harmonizes with the fruitiness to perfectly balance the sweetness while providing lift and drinkability. Attenuation is outstanding. Despite the fruitiness, the yeast and coarse minerals manage to keep the body from becoming limp as they provide plenty of snap. Residual sweetness imparts butter toffee as well as a hint of vanilla nougat. Balance is impeccable, and overt sweetness never plagues the flavor. Finishes relentlessly malty with lengthy notes of hay, nuts and caramel adorned with raisins and plums. Complex and highly quaffable, two essential elements in a well made bock.

Nearly clear, muddy brown body, thick, creamy head. Nice looking bock. Nose is cola and other nuts, sweetness, malty, uh-huh, alright... Thick on the palate, big, aburst with maltiness, full of nuts and dark fruits, in that order...very tasty, too...yum, and you can quote me... grains are in high command, and they are imparted deliciously...much appreciation, for much good work is done here...very tasty, in the bock style, my thanks and appreciation go far and wide, and extend not merely from me, but also from my olfactory glands and every inch on board my tastebuds here in this corpus and countless others.

Bottle. Pours clear tawny with a spare rocky off-white head, completely diminishing, spare lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (bread, caramel, nutty), average hops (celery, grass), average yeast (dough, earth) with notes of plum, dates and cask. Medium bodied, oily texture, average carbonation and an astringent finish. Average duration, moderate sweetness, light acidity and bitterness.

12 oz bottle thanks to Crosling! Not surprised that this is a fantastic doppelbock, coming from Fort Collins. They know how to make good lagers. Pours a clear rich ruby amber with a nice lasting tan head and spotty sticky lace. Aroma is loaded up with dark toasted malts, munich, caramunich etc, along with some soy, and hints of chocolate. Flavor is clean and crisp despite the high alcohol, but remains a solid mouthfeel for a doppelbock- toasted malts, caramel sweetness, toffee, molasses and a light herbal hop bitterness. very smooth.

12oz bottle via trade with Crosling! - Thanks Nick! - Pours dark amber with a nice tan head. Aromas of caramel, some nuts, a little toffee, and some raisin. Flavor is caramel, raisin, toffee some fruity notes and a little bit of vanilla. Nice sweet and a little sticky throughout with a good dry finish. This honestly was one of the best bocks I’ve had... Very nice..
