rotoguru (93), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA Feb 20, 2007 Taylor Caron "What’s It C’Alt" - Winner of the FCBC Alt/Kolsch contest July 2006.
Sample size: Dark brown clear ale. Very mild and rather boring with a slight off flavor that I can’t quite identify.
Apologies to Taylor, but I wasn’t very impressed; it could be perhaps because our brew took 3rd in this contest and I think ours is better (just had one to be sure). Maybe I’m just jealous and look forward to the day when our brew will make it to RateBeer! Congrats! Murphy (1759), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA Dec 22, 2006 Pours crystal clear dark copper with a sizable head. Aroma is grassy, leafy hops with light caramel. Taste is toffee, caramel. Some light bitter hops, traces of ethanol, and toasy malts. Finishes with a touch of candy sweetness. Medium-light bodied. Very much in the house style- good, but doesn’t separate itself from the rest.
