Rastacouere (5409), Montréal, Quebec, Canada Dec 26, 2005 Light amber hue forms a homogeneous 1cm white head. Pleasantly leathery nose with the usual apricot flavours that transcends dried fruits alternatives. Vegetal and woody nuances blend with a graham cookie base that turns into waffle-like sweetness. Sticky finish in that regard, but meanwhile, we encounter more of the same on the tongue, the smokiness being well defined, but polluted a bit by a gazy tartness and the relative smallness of the body. CaptainCougar (4663), Rockville, Maryland, USA Mar 25, 2004 Pours a clear deep copper with a puffy bone-colored head. Aroma is very grainy with a hint of smoke and a lager profile. Body is mildy smoky with a touch of sugary sweetness before a dry lingering earthy finish. A nice smoked lager, but can't compare with any of the Schlenkerla line. hopdog (4647), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 4, 2006 12oz bottle. Poured a deeper reddish-orange with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of smoke, caramel, and burnt orange peel (hmmm, have I actually ever smelled that). Tastes of smoke, caramel, and some citrus. Smoke on the subtle side and not overboard. A little on the sweeter side. Thinner body. muzzlehatch (4424), Burlington, Vermont, USA Dec 5, 2005 12 oz bottle shared with MartinT, tiggmtl, Rastacouere, beerbuzzmontreal and Yowie. Smoky-sweet but also somewhat spoiled and vegetal nose...very light caramel-amber body, translucent with small lasting head...sweet, sugary maple-smoky body, lightly cheesy and lactic...low to moderate carbonation. Pretty boring.
