| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Dec 19, 2007 Draft at the brewpub. Toasted malt aroma. Blackish color with a tannish head. The body is medium; the carbonation is mild. The flavor is toasted malt with a tart character. Some coffee. Finishes not quite dry. Seems a bit different from the common stout herd. There is a touch of chocolate. Alcolhol was not bothersome. SamuraiArtist (292), portland, Oregon, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 11, 2007 From a growler. Pours very dark black with a 1 finger brown head. Aroma of coffee and malt and some hops. Flavor has light maltyness with plenty of roastyness to go around. Some sweetness but not a ton and has some definite bitterness. After awhile bitterness starts to build up on the tongue, this is definitely well hopped. The bitter roast and hops begins to get cloying on the tongue and build up or this would get a much higher score from me.
