Commercial Description:
India pale ale's were designed to withstand the long voyage to India. Today, it seems one has to design the IPA strong and hoppy enough to make the trip back as well. Vortex IPA is the Fort George's first foray into this strong beer category. Our IPA is made with generous additions of cascade, Simcoe and Palisade hops throughout the brewing, fermentation and conditioning phases, balanced with heaps of organic pale malt. We designed this to not rip your taste buds off your tongue, but rather vigorously stimulate them and your palate into a lupulin-ecstacy of pleasure. During the cross-country truck trip our brewery made to find it's home in Astoria, it was nearly scattered to the cornfields of Nebraska by a tornado. We try to capture some of nature's intensity in every pint. IBU 97

Draft at FT George. Full pint fort a closer to our visit. Bigger hop nose than from the small sample, orange copper with thin head but no noticeable lacing. Orange, tangerine citrus nose. Medium to light body offering a bit of sweetness and ride for the big hop finish. Some pine mixes in the hops at the finish. No alcohol present and body seems thin for a double IPA.

nice and balanced. not a big hop smell emanating from the glass. light amber color. Oregon IPA’s seem to be getting milder and I like that.

Cask at GBBF. Golden with a small off-white head. Big peach and pine hop aroma. Sweetish juicy hop flavour with a firm bitterness.

A Mes rate. Cask at GBBF.
Bright orange gold. Not much going on in the head department. Amazing aroma. So much hoppy goodness. So fruity is it that there is almost some black currant hints coming through. The flavour is just a massive hit of hop juice. Fruity as hell, loads of pine and spruce, lychee, a good spicy hit giving an almost ginger burn and a full hoppy punch in the finish. Great stuff.

At GBBF 2009. Gold, slight haze, thin line of bubbles. Big floral hop aroma. That’s quite aggressive isn’t it? Its pretty awesome. Lovely. Good IPA that I could drink all day.
