Alcohol upfront as i put it to my lips. Sweet malts were more on the grainy side but enough sweetness as not to make it rough on my palate. Fiery throughout, high alcohol or just unmasked and out on it’s own. Not much hops at the finish/

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Aug 11, 2009 Had this on tap at Fort George. Colour... cloudy, apricot colour with thick head. Nose... sugar, yeast, citrus. Palate... sweet, cloying, brown sugar, yeast, pungent hops, caramel, citrus and a floral finish. Doesn’t seem like a barley wine, to me, but a decent beer nonetheless. alexanderj (2263), Chino Hills, California, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Apr 6, 2009 On tap at Fort George, a cool place in the hometown of the Goonies. Not sure about the name, but whatever. I am not sure of the style. Aroma of citrus, caramel, fruit and flowers; some roasted elements. Flavor was like vortex, but stronger. BO, citrus, flowers and overall really good. raphael (415), Portland, Oregon, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 14, 2009 On tap at Belmont Station as part of their IIPA week (& this definitely an IIPA and not a barleywine). well balanced but moderate aroma here--resin hops plus some caramel & brown sugar. dark amber color with off white head. A bit harsh on the tongue and in flavor, complemented by the alcohol. the confusion over style seems reflected int he beer-- a little too dense for an IIPA, but not broad enough in malt to be a BW. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 6, 2009 Clear amber color, thin soapy white head. Indistinct aroma, just light malts under a mild pale ale strength hop profile. Some hops up front, then a hint of alcohol, and a lingering hop twinge. Doesn’t taste liket he 9.5% that the tap list had this brew at. troopie (883), USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 4, 2008 Draft at the brewpub. I was told it was an American Strong, not a BW as it is presently listed. A hazy amber beer wtih a thin orangey head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of citrusy and other fruits, one of which is peach. The flavor is sweet malty with strong notes of fruit among them peaches, as well as a light touch of alcohol, leading to a grapefruity hoppy finish. beerinmarch (2800), Washington, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 4, 2007 Pretty good barley wine, built to drink now with a good balance of hops and malt instead of overhopped and set to age. The alcohol was strong, but I was expecting that with this being new. Earthy toasted malt quality up front, long caramel flavor. My only negative thoughts on this were the excessive alcohol that showed through.
