On tap: Medium/Dark amber-copper color. Sweet, but not overly so. Pretty smooth, no bite on the salivary glands like many other ambers. Otherwise, fairly typical amber profile. Well done.

Aug 5, 2009 Pours mahogany with a thin tan head. Smells of caramel, some fruity hints, resiny. Tastes sweet with caramel and some peppery splashes dominating a bitter finish.

Dec 20, 2008 12 oz. bottle - Poured a deep amber color with medium head.
Aroma - sweet, cotton candy, herbal hops, caramel malt and bubblegum.
Flavor - A mixture of sweet and sour flavor.
Palate - light to medium mouthfeel. Lively and soft carbonation with short finish with little aftertaste.
Overall - I am quite surprised by low ratings. I realli enjoyed this beer and would purchase again.

Oct 31, 2007 Sampled at Cellar’s Wine & Spirits mini tasting and shared by joebrew as Founder’s Red Eye Ale. Pours a hazy orange amber brew with a thick beige head that has some good retention. Aroma of caramel malt, some flowery hops wit a slight apple/pear character. Taste is medium bodied, lightly carbonated with flavors of fruity caramel malt, some citrusy hops and a touch of butterscotch. Finish is semi-sweet, dry hop bitterness and a slight fruit aftertaste flavor.
