Feb 12, 2009 Aging a SCOTCH ale in WHISKY barrels? Who would have thought. This magnificent bastard Bastard was the perfect pick for the whisky treatment, IMO. Smooth as can be, and one tasty bastard. Highly rec.

Feb 11, 2009 Bottle thanks to Mar. The smell is bourbon, malts, caramel, wood, and sweetness. The look is reddish in color and clear. The taste is sweet, malty, wood, bourbon, vanilla, and some toffee.

Feb 9, 2009 2008 Bottle - Thanks tjthresh! - Pours a deep brown with a tiny off white head...aroma is bourbon oak, dry fruit and a bit of peat...flavour is similar, sweet and boozy...I get a ton of barrel and not much else...decent beer...!

Feb 7, 2009 On tap at Founders,served in a snifter. A ruby/purple color with a thin white cap that fades quickly and leaves some nice lacing. Aroma is vanilla, oak,alcohol(Burbon)and maybe even some dry barly grain. Flavor is very earthy peaty,lots of burbon notes oak,vanilla,alcohol,rye bread,brown sugar,very complex.Full mouthfeel,medium carbonation,dry boozy finish. Very good brew if you like burbon but not something that I would drink more than one of at a sitting.

Feb 6, 2009 Pours a slightly vigorous head to cover the beer for a half second, what is there is a amber tinged tan color. The beer is a dark plum / dark amber color that shows a lightly hazy, cranberry red hue when held up to the light. At the first, the aroma is a nice mix between rich malt notes and oak aromatics. However the flavour is slightly more complex than the aroma, with a dry astringency in addition to the sweet vanilla Bourbon. Sweet butterscotch, oak, and bakers chocolate as well. Slightly thin feel, with some harsh boozy fire midway through. This is not a bad brew, but the bourbon character is a bit much, especially as the beer warms up a bit. An ok beer, and really not my style, but drinkable enough though.

Feb 6, 2009 Bottle thanks to Mar. Pours a reddish brown, murky, with beige head. Aroma of citrus, floral, tangy, some wild yeast. Flavor is sweet, fruit, hops, some bitter. Mouthfeel is medium body with med-high carbonation. Overall, great stuff!

Feb 6, 2009 Bottle thanks to Mar. New bottle art that is much better. Pours a Burnt caramel color with only a light tan ring for a head. No lacing. Notes of cherry, vanilla, toffee, bourbon, and new hardwood floors. Medium sweet body and medium to long finish.
