Alldaydrinker (462), Norwood, Massachusetts, USA May 29, 2008 12 oz bottle. Pours a murky ruby brown coor with a creamy khaki colored head. Nose of vanilla, butter cream, bourbon, caramel and dark fruits. Mouthfeel is soft and velvety. Initial taste of vanilla and bourbon which dominate the mouth. Mid palate of caramel and nuts. Finishing with continuing bourbon, strong oakiness warming alcohol, and balancing bitter hops. Although the flavor was not very complex it was well rounded and robust making it very enjoyable. Palate duration is above average. Medium body. Good head retention and spot lacing of the glass.
Papsoe (10285), Frederiksberg, Denmark Sep 25, 2008 (Bottle 35,5 cl) Courtesy of pepsican. Pours a slightly hazy reddish amber with tiny floating impurities and a small, creamy yellowish head. Distinct sweet bourbon aroma. Medium-bodied with sweet caramel and fruit, a little spicy with the bourbon notes really shining through leading to a somewhat boozy finish. A little low in carbonation. Very pleasant. 220808 BMan1113VR (905), Los Angeles (and Dallas, TX), California, USA Sep 22, 2008 Bottle thanks to zathrus13. Wow, this stuff is good! Pours with a largish, brown head with hazey red tinged, deep brown body. Aromas of bourbon, vanilla, dark fruits, peet, and some toffee. Flavors of toffee, fruit, vanilla, oak, raisins, bourbon, and a lot of alcohol. As a whiskey drinker, this stuff is great, and the bourbon character reminds me alot of Goose Island IS and Kentucky Breakfast (and maybe BB Angels Share). Syrupy mouthfeel with light bubbles, Great stuff to sip on! Indiana_Red (1470), Boise, Idaho, USA Sep 20, 2008 Semi clear mahogany with a thin prsistant tan head. Big delicious vanilla bourbon aroma. Light and dry palattte but a nice mild woodu flavor with plenty of vanilla and oak.
Ver nice.
sloth (1536), Ceciltucky, Co., Maryland, USA Sep 20, 2008 Small tan head with fair retention and lace. Deep brown color, clear. Lotsa whisky in the nose along with vanilla and a light woodiness. Body is med/full, Slick and coating, light carbonation. Whisky flavors are prominent, vanilla, faint chocolate and maybe some roast buried under there, some fruit and vinous notes slunkin around in there also. Fairly dry boozy finish. Props to eaglefan for sharing. It werent that bad Brian! Sheesh! eaglefan538 (2077), Wilmington, Delaware, USA Sep 14, 2008 Bottle from Styles, shared at State Line. The pour was dark mahoganey brown with a decent initial head that thinned to a full but thin covering. The aroma was all bourbon, vanilla, very faint oak. Did I mention the bourbon? Roasty and smoke notes fill in slightly on the flavor, but this was pretty hot and full of bourbon (even some maple) to the point that it wasn’t pleasant combined with an astringency that was unwelcomed. A fun experience indeed, but not a solid beer in my book. Thanks, Chris, for this one along with those other gems you sent!
