Pours a deep, syrupy amber with a nice, subtle head about one pinky high. Aromas of ripe banana and fruit bubblegum dominate the glass. Flavor is woodsy bbq spice with afterthoughts of banana and vanilla. Mouthfeel is somewhat flimsy considering the depth of the appearance this beer offers. Intersting, but only in the sense of a cheap horror movie that went straight to DVD. kramer (2465), Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 6/20 | Mar 20, 2007 12 oz bottle, via Dickinsonbeer. Pours a cloudy orangish amber colored body under a fleeting beige head that faded fairly quickly. Aroma is pretty non-descript, lots of fruity notes, very much like those banana Laffy Taffy candies. Light alcohol, caramel, and bubblegum. Flavor is very sweet toffee malt with lots of banana and alcohol. Light yeast on the very sweet finish. What about this says Quad other than the ABV? Mouthfeel is fairly thick and a little sticky with moderate fizzy carbonation. Nothing about this beer says Quad to me other than the label. This was the worst Founders that I’ve had. jonwayne4883 (401), Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 23, 2007 Pours a oddly clear amber, looks like iced tea. A quick fizzy that fizzed out quickly. Sharp nose. Explodes in the mouth, sour Jolly Rancher candy...berries and apples. Very hot so the fruit dies quickly. Cinnamon prevalent. Too hot for my blood. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Feb 20, 2007 12’er. Not nearly as bas of quad as has been discussed. This is my second attempt at this beer and I find it very palatable. iowaherkeye (1858), Los Angeles, California, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 14, 2007 12oz bottle, no date. My bottle claims 9.8% ABV. Pours a hazy orange caramel with minimal beige head fading to little more than a ring. Aroma of bananas, peaches, fruity yeast, brown sugar, and raisins. Flavor has some oxidation, lotsa fruit--peaches, bananas, raisins, spices, leather--but there’s a bit of an off flavor that I can’t place. Dry finish. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. This may be getting a bit of a bad rap, but it ain’t that good. I like most all of Founders products, but maybe Belgians aren’t their thing. I actually want to rate this a 3.3 or 3.4, but I just can’t add any points anywhere. BBB63 (4232), La Porte, Indiana, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 13, 2007 Bottle and served in my St. Bernardus chalice: Poured a clean coppery hue with a fading fizzy head and little lace. The aroma has notes of apricot, pear, and banana esters, soft hay and grains, cane sugar, hint of caramel, hint of white pepper and clove along with some alcoholic vapours. The taste starts candy sweet with a dose of fleshy fruit in tow. The alcohol and finishing touches of bitters do cleanse the palate well enough. I get a note of Turkish pipe tobacco and mint on the aftertaste. The mouth feel is this beer weakest link, too thin for the genre and the alcohol is noticeable. That said, I feel that this beer is getting a bad rap. Sure it is not in the league of the top Abbey Abts but it is hardly a 3.18 beer either. cbkschubert (1983), Cochise Co., Arizona, USA
