Commercial Description:
This beer will surprise you with a big hop flavor and a toasty sweet aroma. Pours black from the chocolate and de-bitterized black rye malts. This ale is medium bodied and is well flavored with hints of toffee, nutty undertones and a dry crisp finish.

Bottle. Sampling this after a Founders Red Rye (which I prefered). This pours nearly like a porter and has a similar flavor palate. There are strong flavors of coffee and chocolate.

(Bottle 35,5 cl) Pours completely dark and opaque with a dense, creamy, beige head leaving some lacework. Hoppy aroma with lightly burned malts. Medium-bodied with sweetish notes of roasted malt and a lightly burned, coffeeish edge. Very soft mouthfeel. 291206

Draught. Pours black with big beige head. Aroma of hops bigtime. Flavor is roasted malt all the way with some slight chocolate and what taste to me like northern brewer hops and lots of them, real grean leafy taste to the hops. Kinda of like an IPA with a good amount of roasted malt to it, different but not bad.

Bottle thanks to Mads. Black colour with a beige head. The aroma has a lot of chocolate, malt, is light roasted, so is the taste, also with chocolate and malt and some coffee. Medium body with a smooth dry finish.

Interesting brew, 12oz bottle bought by tip from Chuck’s employee. Very dark pour with little to no head. My best description is a nice bite over a nice stout. a good beer to drink all the time.

Toasty aroma, wheats. Flavor is chocolate, wheat, thick malts, and a surprisingly stronger hop bite than i was expecting. I didnt expect it to be this good. What can i say, Founders rocks. I cant wait to try some more of their beers.

Bottle from Paul (blankboy) Thank you. Pours out a dark brown to almost black color without much of a head at all. Smell is chocolate and some rye with a touch of coffee. Taste is hopped up and sweet with some rye making its presence known as the beer warms some. Not as good as Red Rye, but this is truely a unique offering as I can say I have never had any other beer like this one before.
