Roastiness, mocha and prominent piney hop aroma. Very nice - notes of chocolate, roastiness, grapefruit/citrus and pine. Ends with a little ash-like flavor. Very interesting - kind of like a porter/schwarzbier hybrid made with Pacific NW hops, neat. Medium creamy body with a very smooth texture and moderate carbonation. Great lacing and head retention. Excellent. cbkschubert (1983), Cochise Co., Arizona, USA

| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jul 28, 2006 Rye, rye , and more rye. Pours somewhat of a weak porter. Aroma is you guess it rye with a slight of malts. Taste rounds out with a a touch of bitter malts. I could see why most would enjoy it yet not my type, however did pick up on the dry hops. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 25, 2006 Enjoyable - I’m not sure if it turned out the way they intended it, but it’s good. Fairly light despite the dark color, it’s similar to a stout but lighter, less roasted, and more mild overall. Some roasted flavors, yes, but other malt characteristics are present as well. Good. aobecksy (661), Middle of no where, Ohio, USA
