tap at the brewpub-deep brown with a fuzzy kack-head. banana and chocolate nose with touches of dusty esters, lots of yeast twang and some chocolate in there as well. body is medium with lighter than expected carbonation since its a weizen. finish has notes of chocolate, with a touch of bananas. the chocolate goes on for a long time in the finish. I dig it and its pretty under-rated if you ask me.

On Tap @ Founders. Pours a dark dark brown with a minimal head. Aroma is wheaty and the initial flavor is malty. The primary flavor I picked up is roasted - burnt coffe with notes of chocolate and molasses. Some degree of hop bitterness. It wasn’t bad, but Founders has so much more that is better.

Draft @ Founders: Slightly hazed dark brown color with a beige head. Sweet roasted malt with ash notes. Roasted malt flavor that was sweet with some fruity notes. Light to medium bodied.

on tap at the brewery. Black with thin white/grey/brown head. Nose is very thin with a big bite of coffee. Taste is mostly coffee and gets pretty chakly and bitter.

I enjoyed this. Tap at brewery. Poured dark brown/black with a dark tan head. It could have been a little more densely flavored. Not much aroma, a little chocolate malt maybe. Body was little. Lots of chocolate flavor and a little banana. A better than average dunkleweizen.

At the brewery...this was an extremely dark looking beer. Aroma was sweet and bitter. Flavor was a bit chocolately and had some vegetables as well. Mouthfeel was a bit heavy.

On tap at the brewpub on 4/28/06: Nearly opaque dark brown pour has a thin-lacing, wispy tan head. Slightly tart dark caramel malty nose. Body starts tart and sweet with some toasty dark caramel maltiness and a touch of bready yeast. Decent balance, but the light tartness isn’t very true to style.
