tennisjoel (931), Shakopee, Minnesota, USA Jun 11, 2009 Pour: black body with a creamy tan head. Chocolate, oatmeal, and coffee aroma. Strong roast and some bitterness in the flavor. Light on the hops. Simple, but effective nonetheless. jsh12bama (335), Alabama, USA Jun 11, 2009 Pours jet black with thick tan head. Aroma of all coffee. Taste of bitter chocolate, coffee and smoke flavor. Smooth going down. Full mouthfeel. Very good. Gypsy19 (603), California, USA Jun 9, 2009 Pours black with just a little lacing. Full coffee aroma, roasted malt, unsweetened chocolate. Flavor is initially really smoky and reminded me of an old ale. Slightly salty, also leathery. Nice and robust all around. Palate is oily, low carbonation, not extraordinary. Overall, very good. Bukowski9 (89), Piqua, Ohio, USA Jun 5, 2009 Bottle pour, black with great beige head.Aroma was sweet chocolate, coffee, and malt. The flavor was the same coffee and chocolate but the roasted malts were a little more present than in the nose.Very smooth and easy to drink.Great brew. decaturstevo (1971), decatur, Tennessee, USA Jun 4, 2009 Foamy tight head and lace on an almost black pour. Aroma is chocolate and coffee. Thick chocolate syrup with a nice hard hints of coffee. A nice lingering bitter finish. Full rich palate with medium/low carbonation. A very nice offering. brew4fun (167), West Virginia, USA Jun 4, 2009 What’s not to like? Black pour, persistent tan head leaves consistent lacing. Heavenly aroma of roasted coffee and dark chocolate. Very full body with thick texture. Nutty and very roasty flavor, pronounced but not overwhelming dark chocolate overlay. Good stuff. snakeoilpete (324), Seattle, Washington, USA Jun 2, 2009 Updated: Jun 4, 2009Bottle in the hotel on the way to the airport to avoid having to pack it.
