Commercial Description:
You’ve got to love coffee to truly appreciate this phenomenal brew. Brewed with an abundance of flaked oats, bitter and sweetened imported chocolates, Sumatra and Kona coffee. We’re actually not sure if this is some type of coffee cake or a beer. Either way you can drink this ale with a fork. Breakfast Stout has an intense fresh roasted coffee nose toped with a cinnamon colored frothy head that seems to never fade and makes you wish breakfast could last forever.

A real dark one here, head is dense and leaves bubble marks on it that look like craters on the moon. Its a bit nutty, with that toasty, mild coffee and chocolate smell that you’d expect. It’s thick and dense, toasty, tasting of bitter chocolate and coffee (like biting a coffee bean or cocoa nib). Its character really comes out when it warms up a bit.

Bottle. Thanks to MasterSki. A black beer with a thick light brown head. Amazing nose of fresh roasted coffee and malt. Thick creamy mouthfeel with soft carbonation. Flavor is delicate, sweet malt, bitter chocolate, some really nice mild coffee notes, and maybe a touch of tobacco. Coffee, slightly acidic finish.

The aroma is molasses and toffees with some sweetness. It has a thick, opaque deep brown, almost oil black color. There is a deep crimson head on top. It tastes like a rich full breakfast with the flavor of maple and coffee. This beer is absolutely whopping with flavor.

Poured oily black with a tan head. The aroma was mainly coffee. Taste was sweet and malty with some coffee and chocolate notes.

12oz bottle shared by photomike. Coffee stouts scare me because they can go so wrong depending on the quality of the coffee. This one definitely delivered. The darkest (almost) dark brown color with a small tan head. The aroma is a blast of coffee and dark chocolate, with some oats and roasted malt underneath, but mostly coffee goodness. Less sweet than many big stouts, with lots of coffee, light roasted malt, chocolate, and mild hops. Medium-full body with smooth texture. Nice balance of coffee and chocolate that isn’t sticky or sweet. Very drinkable for an imperial stout. great stuff. (4.2) Rerate: The coffee just seemed tired and thin in this this timme around, with a vegetal, harsh side to it. The aroma is a touch harsh before it breaths as well. Still good, but not really great. Thin as well.

Wow! Pitch black color with a thick dark brown head. Smells mostly of freshly ground coffee. It has a very subtle chocolate undertone. Tastes mostly of coffee. Probably decaf. Leaves a big coffee flavor in the aftertaste. Another good one from Founders.

Bottled. Dark color. Aroma of loads of coffee, malt, chocolat, hint of vegetable that reminded me of the plastic bags you put in the garbagebin. Coffee and oatmeal. Decent cold cup of coffee.

Bottled. Tnx Noize. Aroma has roast, chocolate, black currant and high quality coffee. Black coloured beer with a beige head. The taste is sweet and ends bitter. Has the roast, coffee and chocolate. Less fruitiness in the taste than in the aroma. Medium bodied. Well balanced stuff.
